Artist Statement: Flower Portraits

I love flowers & found that photographing them using the wet plate collodion process produced beautiful, evocative images.

I made these images at a time when I was feeling quite low & all I could see was a photography world raging again beautiful images - everything needed to have a 'concept' particularly in the wet plate world ..& this was my way of saying, it's ok to make something beautiful ... right now I need to see beauty because too much in life seems ugly.
